Intravascular Ultrasound in NYC

When you are a patient at Sinai Laser Vein Center, we will not simply treat your veins and send you on your way. Our vein specialists make it a point to determine the root cause of your vascular problems, and find long-term solutions by providing intravascular ultrasounds. We work with patients on changing their lifestyle adjustments, introducing blood-thinning medication, or offer one of our minimally-invasive vein procedures performed at our office. We make sure that each and every one of our patients receives the best possible treatment or combination of treatments.

Our dedicated, board-certified physicians have trained at some of the best and most respected medical centers in the country, including Mount Sinai, Cornell and Montefiore Hospitals. Moreover, some of our doctors are on the teaching staff of Mt. Sinai Hospital and Cedars Sinai Hospital. We are willing to take calls from new and existing patients over the phone and offer our expert consultation. It’s our continuing mission to us to lead you in the right direction when it comes to your vascular health.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is An MRI?

An MRI is a test that makes use of a computer, magnets, and radio waves to create detailed pictures of the inside of the body. An MRI can help doctors find evidence of blood vessel damage and stroke.

What Is A CT Scan?

A CT scan is a diagnostic test that makes use of computers and rotating X-ray machines to create cross-sectional images inside the body. CT scan images provide detailed images of our blood vessels, soft tissues, and bones so that doctors can make more accurate diagnoses of possible health conditions.

What Is An Intravascular Ultrasound?

An intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) is a diagnostic test that uses sound waves to see inside your blood vessels. During this test, a small ultrasound wand is attached to a catheter, which is then inserted into the arteries. This procedure typically requires little to no special preparation.

Is An Intravascular Ultrasound Painful?

During an intravascular ultrasound, patients may feel slight pressure or a pinch when the catheter is inserted, however no serious discomfort should occur. When the doctor is taking the ultrasound images, you will not be able to feel the catheter in your vein, nor will you be able to feel any pain.
